Three Words

This morning I walked to the gym with Anton, my son, we’ve been going to the same gym since June, this is the first time we’ve walked and trained together, it was a great start to the last day of 2021.

As we walked, we chatted. I’ve been thinking about the three words to bring into 2022 as guides, not as goals, just three words to remember every day as markers to orient, when things might waiver throughout the year.

I went first, sharing mine.

The first is lightness, after the last years of digging in and doing the grind work, laying the foundations, lightness stuck makes me feel excited, to stay agile, to take things ligthly, free and going with the flow. I was explaining this to him and he said oh that one sounds good.

The second word is wheel and he laughed and I said well the wheel for me is because I want to remember to keep the momentum, turning the wheel of collaboration and creation, of the things that I like to do. A wheel has little compartments that help carry the load, a reminder to ask for connection. A wheel that goes around and around building energy.

The third word, this is in no order of priority, is love and matters of the heart, it really is true, we’ve witnessed it this year, closeness and distance, love is the connector. It is all down to love and it does conquer time and it conquers distance and it conquers problems. Having that connection with your family and your friends, and he said yeah that's exactly it he said that's all that matters. We need that around us. We need to have the people around us that we love and I said yeah exactly and then everything feels good.

It was a lovely walk to the gym, and we did a few exercises together and we laughed about my weakness, even though I've been training I can't lift such heavy weights.

These three words I’ll keep as a focus for heading into 2022 and if I'm ever feeling a little unsure just to pull back, think about those three as I make new choices, a year of lightness, spinning the wheel, doing what I love and with people around me that I love to be with.

Happy new year, the other 3 words for today.

Party into 2022.
