A day on the island

The morning sun is the alarm clock and the ocean is the ring. That's how we wake up on the island. You just naturally ease into the day. A day in the life on the island starts with a walk along Home and Cylinder beaches, over the rocks and down the clifts to Deadmans and Frenchman's beach, if you’re keen to get the daily steps in, it’s 13,000 steps before mid-day. A way to get the heart rate started and the body warmed up.

Numerous views along the way to stop and take lots of beautiful nature photos. It. The ocean gives a sense of grounding and the sea salt makes your skin feel alive. Barefoot or with shoes, both work, wearing swimmers under walking gear is a bonus, we find it's simple to have a dip after a hot walk.

The day can start with a choice of yoga on the beach or yoga in one of the local studios. This is something of a luxury, to enjoy just on holidays 2 hours of stretching and breathing on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. All ages and all levels are included via Zoom, the mats are as colourful as the island group who gather sometimes after a class on the headland to cool off with scopes of homemade gelati.

Tomorrow will be the first official day back and work life will change again for 2022, it’s good to have a team that is agile, so we can adapt to these daily events. It's the new way of working. Creatively everything is still being managed, via Zoom and Whatsapp

Places we like to cover in a day, the local organic shop is a destination to check out and has a variety of three smoothies. Depending on what your taste is for the day, it’s a good way to get an injection of vitamins. Afternoons are for catching some waves. Catching some fish or just catching the view. It’s enjoyed by lots of people as they stroll along when the tide is out. Bringing dogs, friends, kids and balls.

It's interesting how you can fill a day doing relaxation. And I question sometimes, is this the new reality and fitting in life more than work. As the digital technologies allow us to streamline a lot of processes and to be able to deliver services and products content entertainment much more rapidly, there's been time to look at other hobbies and blossom into those to fill the days creatively and fulfillingly.

This time on the island is an annual event and I hang out for it throughout the year, it’s a place to come home to.
